State tax collections down, again.

Joe Turner at The News Tribune spotted that this month’s state tax collections — down, again.

Here’s the report from the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council.

One bright spot: Unemployment appears to be declining, which the council says could be one signal that the state’s economy has bottomed out.

The next revenue forecast comes out in June. If the picture changes substantially — more than what Gov. Chris Gregoire can cut herself — the Legislature may need to be called back, she has said.
