In danger of foreclosure? The state can help.

June 17th, 2009 by Niki Reading | Filed under Uncategorized.

Today, lawmakers — including Gov. Chris Gregoire and Sen. Jean Burkey — and the Washington State Bar Association announced a program, called the Home Foreclosure Legal Aid Project, to give advice and legal representation to people facing home foreclosure.

The service will be provided through Northwest Justice Project and will depend on pro bono service from lawyers for low- and middle-income homeowners. Gregoire said at a press conference that she “can’t thank my fellow attorneys enough for volunteering their time for this critical project.”

The project will operate through May 31 of next year. If you need help, call 877-894-HOME or visit the Washington State Bar Association’s web site. You can also visit the Department of Financial Institutions here.
