King 5 is reporting via the Skagit Valley Herald that the young teen who went bear hunting with his older brother last August and killed a 54-year-old hiker in Skagit County has been convicted of second-degree manslaughter.

He will likely serve 60 to 90 days in jail for the conviction, King 5 reports.

The accidental killing sparked debate among lawmakers this session over whether young teens should be able to hunt without adult supervision. A bill to change the law and require supervision failed, as we reported last month.
