Flags are at half staff today in memory of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Douglas M. Vose III, who died July 29 in Kabul Province, Afghanistan.F

The 38-year-old from Concrete, Wash., died from an insurgent attack on his unit. Gov. Chris Gregoire ordered the flag lowering at all Washington state agencies, but others (like homeowners) may follow.
