New season of ‘The Impact’ starts tonight

TVW’s Jennifer Huntley here.  Taking over the blog for a moment to let you know that our weekly public affairs show, The Impact, is back this evening with new fall episodes.

Tonight, I’ll focus on health care reform.  The show will include details of several of the reform proposals being discussed in Congress.

For a state perspective on the reform in D.C., we’ll talk with State Senator Karen Keiser and State Senator Cheryl Pflug.  Both are hopeful for some reform from Congress.   Keiser prefers a public option for Americans without health insurance, while Pflug wants the uninsured to be able to choose from a group of private insurers.  Both are anxious to hear President Obama’s address to Congress tonight and a bipartisan Senate proposal that is expected to be released in the next week.

Also on the show – U.S. Congressman Brian Baird.  He’ll join us to talk about his town hall meetings on health care and how the public comments at those meetings will impact how he votes on any reform bill this fall.

Don’t miss The Impact, tonight at 7pm and 10pm on TVW and online at tvw.org.
