Coming up tomorrow: Flood prevention plans at the Utilities meeting

October 14th, 2009 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized.

Tomorrow at 10 a.m., the Utilities and Transportation Commission will hold its first meeting on what utilities in the area are doing to prevent flooding.

Because water is seeping through an earthen bank, the Green River Valley is at a higher risk of flooding this fall and winter. And the UTC wants to know what local utilities are doing to address the issue. Tomorrow, we’ll find out: Puget Sound Energy, Olympic and Williams pipeline companies will be there.

The next meeting will be held on Thurs., Oct. 29. It will include telecommunications and solid waste companies.

The meeting is at UTC’s headquarters at 1300 S. Evergreen Park Dr. S.W. in Olympia in the second-floor hearing room. We’ll air tomorrow’s meeting on TVW, of course.
