Senate passed bill to ban state worker bonuses

This bill just passed in the Senate. It bans bonuses for state workers — with the exception of rewards for those who have money-saving ideas for their department.

Sen. Rodney Tom said that lawmakers were surprised to find out that about $1.9 million in bonuses had been paid out to state workers in the last year.

Sen. Joe Zarelli said it was “one tiny little” baby step in the right direction. The bill passed unanimously.
