About Capitol Record

Capitol Record is TVW’s blog about state government.

We’ll keep you updated throughout the day on what the state Legislature and the Governor are doing. From the budget to policy changes, we’ll provideĀ  information that’s both in-depth (for those with time and interest) and easily skimmable (for those looking for the basics).

Can’t get information fast enough? Subscribe to our RSS feed (using a Real Simple Syndicate like Google Reader or Netvibes) and our Twitter feed, TVWnews.

Capitol Record is written by Niki Reading, producer of Legislative Review, which airs nightly at 11 during the Legislative session, reruns every morning at 7:45 and plays anytime on the Web. Niki covered state government for The Associated Press in Oregon and The News Tribune in Washington before coming to TVW.

We post information consistent with TVW’s programming, resources and mission. You won’t find hearsay, rumor, opinion, coverage of behind-the-scenes politics, or speculation about what might or could happen. Instead, the blog is a source for citizens to access the facts about what is happening and did happen in state government each day. In other words, the public record is the source for the information we post.

If you have questions, comments, tips or just want more information, e-mail Niki Reading at: nikir@tvw.org.

One more thing: This blog has a few nifty little programs you should know about. The one you’ll probably notice first is Apture. That allows you to scroll over links and get a preview of the linked page. With PDF documents, it allows you to read the entire document without leaving the blog, thanks to iPaper.

Another handy feature: The blog is optimized for mobile devices. That means it’s faster to load and easier to read.
