“The Impact” – Big Summer Road Projects & the Battle Against Invasive Insects

This week on “The Impact:

We break down the big road projects this summer that could cause big time delays for drivers.

We talk to  impacted drivers and then hear from a WSDOT official about the major projects to keep on your radar. You’ll hear about the sites I-5 and I-90 to keep on your radar as well as the goal of the work, the timing considerations, and the agency’s recommendations for drivers.

“Last weekend I believe the longest backup that we had was six miles on Saturday, but on Sunday I think because the word got out people realized what the situation was, that backups were a lot less.” – Lorena Eng, Northwest Region Administrator, WSDOT.

Later we explore a battle that may be happening in a back yard near you.  We look at the state’s program to combat invasive insects and highlight the damage from forest wrecking gypsy moths and orchard trashing apple maggots.
