This week on “The Impact”:
Twenty years after adopting an interim conservation plan for the marbled murrelet the Washington Department of Natural Resources is in the final phases of submitting a permanent plan. It will impact the coastal bird and the old growth forests where it nests as well as the revenue from timber on State Trust Lands that goes to schools.
“How do we find that win-win solution where we’re looking at revenue for forest, providing forests for folks to go recreate in as well as for conserving for the murrelet?” – Angus Brodie, Deputy Supervisor for Uplands, WA Dept. of Natural Resources.
Later, state lawmakers raise questions at a Senate committee inquiry into campus safety concerns at The Evergreen State College.
