“Inside Olympia” — Sept. 14, 2017: Has the state met its “McCleary” obligation?

The 2017 Legislature approved a plan it contends meets the state’s constitutional obligation to fully fund K-12 public schools.

But the plaintiffs in the ongoing “McCleary” lawsuit say the state has not met that obligation, and are urging the WA Supreme Court to maintain jurisdiction in the case.

Who should the court side with?

We talk with Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, plus two superintendents from local school districts: Steve Webb of Vancouver Public Schools, and Krestin Bahr of Eatonville public schools.
