This week on “The Impact”:

Federal and local authorities are gathering in Washington to discuss gang prevention and intervention strategies.  In this episode you’ll hear about one city’s efforts to give troubled youth a better path.

“A resource that the gangs use is commercial sexual exploitation of children,” Vicky McLaurin, Neighborhood and Community Services Department, City of Tacoma. “If you see graffiti, tagging in your community – then there’s likely a gang problem.”

Later, a veteran fraud investigator reveals the wide range of schemes and scams that are out there.

“We’ve had vehicle fires. Those are always astounding to me that somebody will have a friend or acquaintance or boyfriend or whatever to burn their car and try to set it up that this was just an accident,” Mark Couey, Director, Criminal Investigations Unit, Office of the Insurance Commissioner. “This affects all consumers of insurance because we’re all going to pay.”
